The Girl That Didn't Make Sense

I know I’ve asked a lot of the Tumblr community. It seems I have some new art request or survey or something at least once a week. But the artistic brilliance of you fantastic people is absolutely limitless, while mine leaves me struggling to draw a symmetrical stick figure.

So I fall to my knees, humbled before your magnificence, and seek your aid. I’ve started a new D&D campaign and written about eight pages of backstory for this character, but my poor little cleric is depressingly lacking in visual representation. I’d really love it if someone had the spare time and energy to draw her for me. If you’re feeling particularly charitable, you could even draw my entire adventuring party! I’m sure my friends would be excited beyond words. I’ll even include references, because I don’t expect everyone to just know what each D&D race looks like.

You know, like the one I did for the Avengers. I’m trying to decide between a few fandoms.

• Harry Potter houses
• Game of Thrones families
• Borderlands characters

Which should I do first? I’m going to do them all eventually, but I’m interested in seeing which one would… be in the highest demand, I guess. Any other fandom suggestions would be good too.

That’s from The Old Astronomer by Sarah Williams, an old poem about a dying astronomer talking to his apprentice. It’s probably not rare at all. There are probably a ton of people who have the same quote tattooed on them. I don’t care. I read the poem years ago and I’ve been in love with the quote ever since.

My idea is to get it tattooed on my ankles, half on each leg. Since the lines are long, they would spiral around my ankles. I want the last few words of each line - “perfect light” and “of the night” - to get slightly larger and trail down over the top of my foot. I want the font to be swirly cursive and slightly decorated, maybe with stars to dot the i’s or something, and black, with a bigger decoration (maybe in color) on the last word of each. Something that incorporates the duality of the words “light” and “night”.

If anyone is artistically-inclined and would volunteer to draw this for me, you would have my undying love and gratitude.

I did a Gallifreyan request for you a while back, and you said that you’d draw something for me in return. I told you that I don’t have a request at the moment, but I’d be sure to take you up on it eventually. In my complete and utter lack of foresight, I didn’t take note of your name. If you follow me and happen to see this, would you kindly send me a message? I thought of something I’d love to have drawn.

Actually, if anyone is bored and in the mood to take requests, I’d love to have a message from you too. It’s Game of Thrones related, a bit complicated, and not X-rated. And all of that rhymed. That was cool.

I’m trying to decide if I should open a new blog dedicated to my creative endeavors. Now I know it’s too late to put my circular Gallifreyan there, since so many people know me for it here. There are other things I do, though. Writing and singing, mainly.

I know fanfic is pretty popular here in the Tumblrverse, so I could give that a shot. Maybe finish that SuperWho fic I wrote months ago. I also have lots of original pieces, usually kinda dark and psychological in nature.

I really like to sing, and I think I’m pretty decent. I have a webcam I never use, I could make videos and put them up here for you guys to criticize and laugh at enjoy.

Should I do it? If I do, should it be a different blog that I don’t have to associate with this one if it turns out I’m not as good as I think? Or should I just put on my big-girl panties and deal with it, posting it all on this blog? Opinions, please.

I’m happy beyond belief that my circular Gallifreyan pieces have gotten so popular. I’ve gotten loads of requests, and I can barely find the time to do them all. That being said, I’m imposing a new rule.

If I get an anon request, it will be deleted. I don’t mind any other anon things, like questions or comments or whatever. If I’m gonna do this work for you, though, for free, the least you could do is give me an identity.

One of you brilliant, amazing, beautiful, more-technologically-capable-than-myself people needs to help me. I don’t know how to make GIFs and I want to learn. I’ve tried at least 20 of those “upload a video and we’ll gif-ify it for you” sites, and I don’t like them. They’re choppy, or they have watermarks, or some other bad thing.

At least once a day I see an episode/movie/etc. with a bit that makes me think “man, I would be as happy as Larry if I had a loop of that”. Most recently it’s Felicia Day in The Girl With the Dungeons and Dragons Tattoo where she says “Is this real life?”.

I have video files I want to make GIFs of, I have programs to crop them into the 3-4 second clips, and I have Photoshop CS4. What do?
